Welcome to Giga Group

Giga-Group is a British privately owned and financed family of companies with a focus on wireless broadband communications as their core technology.

GigaSat was founded by Chris Lay in 2001 following a 25 year career in microwave and satellite communications.  The company has won several prestigious awards including the Queens Award for Industry in 2005 and a European Space Agency award for Research and Development in 2006.  The company today is widely recognised as the industry leader for mobile and flyaway satellite earth stations listing CNN, Al Jazeera and the BBC amongst its list of regular clients and has the technical resources to undertake virtually any ground based satellite communications project.

GigaSat Asia Pacific (GAP) joined in 2003, initially as a support office for GigaSat’s Australian Department of Defence business and conveniently located in Canberra.  However, today GigaSat accounts for less than 10% of GAP revenue.  GAP has become an independent fast growth organisation primarily specialising in the integration of VSAT networks and IP service provision on a global scale.

Fariista was acquired in 2006, The company designs and manufactures terrestrial point-to-point microwave links to address the high volume telecommunications market.  The company offers end to end solutions for broadband connectivity using an Ethernet architecture providing data rates from E1/T1 through to SDH.

Giga-Communications (Giga-Com) was launched in 2006 as a designer, manufacturer and integrator of microwave link systems, primarily for high quality television contribution and distribution markets. Core products include fixed, mobile and highly portable links for Standard Definition and High Definition MPEG-2/MPEG-4 video plus a comprehensive range of accessories including, ENG antennas, motorised positioners and tripods.
